Israel 'target' Syria military with MISSILE ATTACK as Middle East tensions rise

ISRAEL has launched three missiles at a Syrian military facility, Damascus' state media has claimed as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.

It is believed that a Syrian Scientific Research plant that is suspected of building chemical weapons was destroyed in the provocation.

Local media has reported that a number of Syrian soldiers and Hezbollah fighters were killed in the air-strike.

Three strong explosions could be heard from the direction of Jamraya, west of Damascus and smoke rising in the area, according to witnesses.

Syria's news agency SANA said: “Our air defences are confronting an Israeli missile attack on one of our sites in the Damascus suburbs and three of the targets were downed.”

It is the second time in a matter of days that Israel has launched a missile attack on Syria.

The Jamraya site was also believed to have been hit by an Israeli attack in 2013.

It has been reported that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently sent a message to Syria’s Bashar-al-Assad threatening to strike the country if Iran were allowed to set up bases there.

Hezbollah is an Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon and are hostile to Israel.
